Brandon Cole Margera was born on September 28, 1979, in West Chester, Pennsylvania. He is the youngest son of April Margera and Phillip Margera. He has an older brother named Jess Margera and is the nephew of Vincent Margera.
At the age of three, he received the name ‘Bam Bam’ from his grandfather due to Jackass Bam’s constant habit of running into walls, which followed another nickname ‘Bam’ given by his schoolmates. He is part of Italian, German, English, and Welsh.
He attended West Chester East High School and dropped out after his junior year. He later received his GED.
During the early 2000s, Margera started making videos of himself and his friends’ skateboarding. This lead to them getting featured in CKY videos series. CKY is an abbreviation of ‘Camp Kill Yourself.’ He independently released CKY, CKY2K, CKY3, and CKY4.
These videos featured a couple of renowned skaters like Ryan Dunn, Brandon DiCamillo, Rake Yohn, Brandon Novak, and Chris Raab. CKY is also a shared name with his brother, Jess Margera’s band; hence, the stunts and band projects were pretty much linked.

The film was later titled ‘Earth Rocker.’ After consistent shooting for four years, the project was called off, as according to Bam Jackass, four years’ worth of video footage would be impossible to simmer down into a two-hour-long movie.
2015 was also the year that Bam entered rehab, again for a short period and without completing the program. He also took this to ‘Family Therapy with Dr. Jenn on VH1 along with his mother, April, and regained coherency after being sober for a while. Following such positivity, Jackass star fell for various mental health instability and disorders such as eating and anxiety disorder.
He, along with his family, relocated to Spain in late 2016 but moved back to Pennsylvania shortly after in 2017, right before his son’s birth.
In 2018, for the third time, he entered rehab and remained sober for about seven months. He was also robbed at gunpoint that year, which caused an indefinite relapse. In 2019, he entered rehab for the fourth time and left after ten days.
Finally, in 2019, video footage was released where Margera was seen shouting obscenities at a comedy club. His alleged threats to his manager, followed by his ignorant behavior and slurs towards his wife on Instagram was the limit for his family and friends. Thus, he was put in a behavioral health facility and was released from treatment after a week.
Afterward, his removal from an airline due to drunken behavior had caused him to plead publicly on Instagram to Dr. Phil. His stretched tirade about his wife, relationships, mother, and life, in general, got him into the seat next to Dr. Phil. He was then admitted to a treatment center the next day.
It seems the year 2021 has is nothing but bad luck for Bam Margera.
In Jan 2021, Bam has stopped at a gas station in San Marcos to fill up his gas and charge his phone on his way to Escondido in North County San Diego for an early appointment the next day. Then, a thief stole his Bentley and crashed it into someone’s home in the area. The sheriff’s deputy found the car damaged. The good news is no one was hurt although the home sustained some damage.
According to IGN, Bam Margera announced that he has been cut from the most anticipated skateboard movie for any skateboarder fan, Jackass 4. It is alleged that he had failed multiple breathalyzer and urine sample tests while he was shooting the movie.
He urges his fans not to go see the movie and to support him in creating his own movie that will rival Jackass 4. Here are his exact words:
Who the f**k cares if I’m drunk as hell anymore? Jackass has put me through hell on f**king wheels for a year-and-a-half. I wrote them so many ideas, and if I’m not in the movie and they use my ideas, how do you think that will make me feel? The last thing I want to do is be in a courtroom with [director] Jeff Tremaine, I love him. But f**k, man, I’m not in Jackass 4? If anybody cares about me, don’t go see their movie, because I will make mine way f**king radder if you just Venmo me a dollar.
If anybody cares about me at all, then throw me a f**king bone and send a dollar to this Venmo, and the more you send, the radder s*** we can do, and I give everyone f**king credit for it. Like, I can’t compete with their $10m, ladies and gentlemen, but if I had that, I would blow them out of the f**king water.
Jackass Bam Margera’s Recent Allegations
Bam Margera has battled alcoholism amongst many other battles that he has won or is still pursuing. While it took him some time to get over his alcoholic hypnotism, Bam Margera has been pretty explicit about his journey thus far. He had been in and out of rehab a couple of times, winning and failing each time dramatically.
However, until very recently, he was committed to a behavioral facility after leaked videos circulated the internet where Margera was seen having a meltdown in a comedy club. This was evidently a reaction to his adamant attempt at trying to get sober on his own. Within the midst of his drunken tirade, a small and upset crowd, Bam Margera had allegedly threatened to beat up his manager. It gets worst – the same day, he posted a video online where he explicitly verbally abused his wife, Nicole Boyd.
Finally, after all that went down at the comedy club, Bam’s friends and family intervened and decided that it would be best for him to be admitted to a behavioral facility. Although Jackass Bam Margera was skeptical and unwilling, he gave in at last.
Bam Margera Opens up to Dr. Phil
Bam Margera had appeared on the Dr. Phil show in 2019 to discuss his mental health issues and breakdowns, drug abuse, and erratic behavior. Margera, who was 38 years old then, had consistent wishes of committing suicide, to which Dr. Phil had tactically asked if he would live for the sake of his son. To which Bam Jackass replied that his son was his only reason to stop.
Margera had blamed his mother, April Margera, and wife, Nicole Boyd Margera, for his downfall. While Nikki Boyd was ‘stubborn’ according to him, his mother was linked to being intrusive as she had renovated Bam Margera’s house, also known as Castle Bam, with his consent.
Apparently, he felt that this redecoration lead his mother to be in his property too much, claiming that it was his house and that he bought it. While such allegations flew around, his mother spits back saying how his party-centric home is filled with his friends, who eventually are the reasons for his fall.
Bam had further admitted that he started his never-ending spiral of drunkenness while on the set of ‘Jackass’. His claim of not being an alcoholic before the show was backed up by how he often sustained injuries in the stunt-filled show and had opted for alcohol to dim down the pain. Bam admitted to being drunk during the show and that he had consumed 10-milligrams of Adderall pills every day.
He further talked about his expired friend and co-star, Ryan Dunn. Dunn, 34, died in a car crash due to intoxication. April Margera said that his dear friend’s death had contributed negatively to Bam’s alcoholism along with depression.
In the end, Margera had agreed to receive therapy and have been in two different facilities ever since then. After leaving the first facility, he was arrested due to the alleged ‘disturbance’ that erupted by him and had been in police custody. Post his release, he checked into rehab for the fifth time and stayed under treatment for 10 days. Afterward, his recent rant about his wife and manager on a social platform, Instagram, his friends, and family had admitted him to a behavioral health facility, as aforementioned.
Where is Bam Margera Now?
It was revealed that Jackass 4 would release in 2021, here’s to hoping that’s true. On a lighter note, Bam is still pretty much doing his thing in Pennsylvania. At 39, in a public Instagram post, Bam revealed that he is willing and excited to join the sober parade.
According to the Jackass star, his party time is over, and he has had enough time to rethink and grieve about his friend’s demise.
